Building Security Plan Implementation

Search

In consultation with the Assistant Chief of Police in Minnetonka and our risk consultant, we have decided to install a security desk inside the front entrance of our building in Minnetonka, with the goal of monitoring visitors entering the building, providing a check-in point for all new families and visitors, and ensuring a security presence at the main entrance to our early education and early intervention center.

Over the course of course of the next several months, we will implement several recommendations related to security. We will begin construction of the new security desk on Monday, September 18, with completion planned for Friday, October 6 (three weeks), with the main lobby reopening Monday, October 9, if plans progress as anticipated. Following the construction of the security desk, we will then take two months to test and adapt new systems and processes and hire, orient, and train new security staff, with the intention of using our new desk and processes starting in December.

During the project, we will temporarily move the front desk to the Big Playground building entrance, on the far northeast corner of the building, and the waiting room will move into our Motor Room just inside the Big Playground doors. The current front door will be locked and unavailable during the project. Outside signage will guide you to the Big Playground entrance, and parking will be available for you near the gate leading to that entrance. During the project, we will take measures to make sure the building remains secure, given the location and openness of the temporary lobby, and will communicate any changes to the plan as needed.

We appreciate your patience during this project and welcome any questions or concerns directed to jpalm@stdavidscenter.org.
