Building Our Children's Future
St. David's Center is committed to investing most deeply where the return is highest: the early years.
For more than 50 years, St. David's Center has been dedicated to the development of every child. We are sought out by parents, pediatricians, school districts and childcare center staff, county social workers and other professionals to provide critically-needed programs in the areas of early education, early intervention and treatment, and life-phase services for individuals with enduring special needs.
The needs we are called to meet are escalating.
More than 2,200 children and families rely upon St. David's Center each year.
- One in 68 children has autism
- One in six has a developmental disability
- One in five suffers from a diagnosable mental health issue, yet only 20% are identified and receive services
- Three in 10 children arrive in kindergarten without the skills to learn
With your help, we'll meet these needs.
St. David's Center purchased the Burwell School building in 1989 and remodeled it to meet the demand for inclusive preschool education and parent support. As community need for our services has escalated, our capacity to meet these demands has been hindered by both our aging facility's limitations and an inability to fully innovate in our limited treatment spaces. Our goal is to increase our capacity to meet critical needs by creating a state-of-the-art early education, early intervention and treatment, and training center that serves the developmental needs of children who access our Center and our services in the community. Our $12.25 million Campaign will align the building and grounds with today's needs and allow us to serve as a launching pad for hundreds of therapists and clinicians for years to come.
Together, we're making a real and lasting impact.
Our Building Our Children's Future Capital Campaign will enable St. David's Center to reach 90 percent more children with early identification and early intervention services within the first three years of the investment.
"Investing in St. David's quality early childhood education is a great investment."
—Arthur J. Rolnick, senior fellow and co-director, Human Capital Research Collaborative at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs; former senior vice-president, Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank
