Social Zone

Introducing...Social Zone!

A small group setting providing children and families with foundational self-regulation and social communication strategies.


We utilize speech – language pathologists’ and occupational therapists’ expertise and direct training in the development of:

  • Initiating and expanding play skills,
  • Increasing conversational, social interactions
  • Sharing and turn taking, and
  • Understanding feelings/emotions.

Social Zone has year-round enrollment!

Social Zone consists of 2 hour sessions, 2x a week. All dates listed include the 1st and last sessions which are designated for PARENT/CAREGIVER ONLY EDUCATION SESSIONS (out of pocket fee).

Winter 2020: 1/6/2020 through 3/9/2020, Monday/Wednesday 4-6pm

Summer 2020: 6/8/2020 through 8/14/2020, Monday/Wednesday 4-6pm

Winter and Summer groups will focus on foundation skills using the Social Thinking Curriculum® and other evidenced based interventions that support play and social interactions at the preschool and early elementary level. Individualized treatment plan goals could emphasize emerging cooperative play skills, turn taking, keeping your body in a group, self regulation with peer demands, basic social expectations, and expanding play to name a few.

Fall 2020: 9/14/20 through 11/18/2020, Monday/Wednesday 4-6pm

Spring 2020: 3/16/2020 through 5/22/2020, Monday/Wednesday 4-6pm

Winter 2021: 1/4/21 through 3/17/21, Monday/Wednesday 4-6pm with no sessions on 1/18 and 2/15

Fall and Spring groups will focus on expanding foundation skills necessary for cooperative and role-based play as well as conversational interactions. This group will utilize more advanced Social Thinking Curriculum®, Zones of Regulation, Social Detective, and SuperFlex: A Superhero Social Thinking Curriculum® for elementary or older level learners. Individualized treatment plan goals could emphasize use of emotional expression, staying flexible in developing cooperative play opportunities, perspective taking and social expectations, problem solving through social scenarios and expanding communication, to name a few.

Social Zone sessions will be held 2 times per week, for 2 hours, across a total of 10 weeks. We are committed to consistent collaboration with families and will provide a daily recap and take-home materials related to the designated curriculum.

Families are required to place a $250 attendance deposit that will be fully reimbursed if you miss 1 or fewer sessions. If you miss 2 or more sessions your deposit will not be refunded. Your insurance will be billed for speech and occupational therapy for all but the 1st and final sessions.  Actual coverage of services is not guaranteed and will be dependent on each applicant’s insurance policy. Additionally, we will provide mandatory caregiver only training during the 1st and final sessions of the program. These two sessions will be an out of pocket cost of $300.

Thank you for your interest in Social Zone! Please complete our initial parent intake questionnaire form below - this will begin the registration process. It will also help the Social Zone team get to know your child to determine if they are a good fit for the program, and if so, which group would offer them the most therapeutic benefit. If an OT or Speech evaluation is needed, our CORE team will contact you for scheduling. Final enrollment will be completed upon acceptance to the upcoming group.
