Family Assessment

Sometimes families need help keeping their children safe. Family Assessment can provide that help.

Created by the Department of Human Services, Family Assessment is an alternative to a traditional Child Protection (CP) investigation. Families involved in the 90-day Family Assessment program have been reported to CP and are determined to be at a medium to low risk level. 

One of four agencies providing Family Assessment services in the West and Northwest suburbs, the Family Assessment staff at St. David's Center does not focus on the details of a specific incident, but instead focuses on the safety of each child.

Each family's unique strengths are leveraged in order to work toward creating a family dynamic that is healthier for the children. In addition, our staff works with the family to provide advocacy, support and resources based on their needs.
