Early Childhood Mental Health Outreach

Our Early Childhood Mental Health Outreach program focuses on improving school readiness in young children by partnering with parents and caregivers. Services are offered in the Twin Cities Northwest metro.

Developed in response to a community need for more education and resources surrounding social-emotional school readiness, this program has two service areas:

Home Visits

This area provides in-home, relationship-based support for vulnerable young parents of children from birth to five years old. Services include:

  • Advocacy and case management
  • Help accessing needed resources
  • Parent and developmental skills education

School District and Childcare Consultation

This area partners with school districts and childcare centers to increase school-readiness in young children. We are currently engaged in partnerships with the Osseo, Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center and Hopkins school districts and provide licensed mental health clinicians at four different school sites.

Services include:

  • Classroom observation
  • Teacher consultation and training
  • Communication facilitation between staff and parents
  • Referrals to additional services
  • Therapeutic play groups

Payment/Funding

Early Childhood Mental Health Outreach is funded through a combination of state and county funding, foundation support and insurance.
